I got this idea from the picture that Kevin took of his wife’s iPod. I really like the texture of the ZundHDs. So I tried to take a picture of it.

I used the external flash again. I had a hard time figuring out what position to put the Zune in to get the light reflect off the surface without it looking like the flash was pointed at it. Eventually, I ended up with the flash pointed upwards and a white card in front of it to diffuse the light. I like how the colors of the Zune turned out here, especially because I think the orange in the shirt I’m wearing also added to the color being reflected by the Zune. I don’t like the background of this image though. I wish I had a better backdrop.

One of Poonam’s coworkers had told her about a beach away from where tourists usually go. This beach was apparently used for filming some scenes for one (or more?) of the Pirates of the Caribbean films after the core filming had completed.

So we went out in search of this beach. On the way we stumbled upon this park and were amazed at how unbelievably beautiful the view was. We had to stop. :) The majority of the pictures that I took while in LA were from this park area, more of which will be posted soon.

As with yesterday’s photo, I didn’t have my circular polarizer. This meant that post-processing was needed to remove some of the haze created by the sun. I really like the way the colors turned out. :)

My sister, Poonam, and I went to Griffith Observatory. From there you could see pretty much everything. I like this picture for a couple reasons. First of all, I generally think I don’t do a good job at taking “landscape” photos, but I think this one turned out pretty well. I like composition of this photo, I guess, is what I’m trying to say.

I did do some post-processing on this photo to lower the effect of the haze. I had forgotten to bring my circular polarizer with me on this trip so I post-processing had to suffice to get the colors to come out.

LA has it’s own canals, created to mimic the ones in Venice Italy. It was raining, so you don’t get to see a bright blue sky in the background. You can even see the places where the rain is hitting the canals. I like this picture because of the, somewhat, vanishing view point effect. I also like that it gets all the little paddle boats and whatnot people have.

I was packing for my trip to LA and needed a picture for today. I also wanted to use the external flash. My cardigan here has a little embellishment on it and I wanted to see what kind of pictures I could get with the flash. I like that you can see the texture of the fabric/sweater as well as the light on the beads.

The weekend of the 10-13th a bunch of us took a trip Whistler, BC. It was my first time there, so I was very excited. :)

I have a small subset of the pictures I took here. See my flickr page for the entire set.

The upper left image is a picture of the view from the balcony of our lodge. We were only on the second floor, and we had gotten there at night. The upper right is a photo of one of the runs I enjoyed on Blackcomb Mountain. It was called Zig Zag. It was foggy/snowing the entire trip so this was about the best visibility we had while on the mountain. On the lower left, we have a cheers after our first day of skiing/boarding. Then to the lower right, there is a picture of the view on the drive from Whistler heading towards Vancouver. The pictures of the drive back are pretty blown out. I always forget to check the settings on my camera when I start taking pictures. The night before, I was taking pictures at ISO 1600 and on the drive back, forgot lower it. :( But I still think the pictures turned out ok, at least.

I used the external flash again. 😮 This trunk doesn’t have a lot of light on it. So I tried using the flash here to get a picture of it. The flash is mounted on the camera and since I turned the camera on its side, it was pointing at the wall about 2 feet away from the trunk. That’s how the metal around the keyhole turned out so bright. I like how you can see the texture of the metal in this picture.

It was chilly outside so obviously that means it’s the perfect time for smores. I took a bunch of different pictures. I like the way this one turned out. :) By the way, they were delicious.

Keith said that I had to take a picture with the external flash today. So I finally did, lol. This is a picture of Wrigley with the flash pointed at the ceiling. I took a couple others the first is one without any flash. The second is one is with the external flash pointed at Wrigley.

I have to admit, the I do like the way the colors turned out in the main image. The image without an flash looks very yellow – but that’s no surprise. And the picture with the direct flash has some of the right colors, but I never like the look of direct flashes.

We went skiing at Stevens. There was this one windy area by the power lines. On the way down one of the slopes there were some snow drifting because of the wind. It looked really interesting, especially against the blue sky. I tried to get a picture of it, but with the point’n’shoot, it only turned out ok. You can see the drifting snow best to the upper left of the slope.
