Outside of Vertical World in Redmond there are these white Cherry Blossom trees. The flowers on these trees are bunched in puffs, unlike the pink cherry blossoms, which are more spread out (at least I think they look that way).

Anyway, I took a bunch of pictures, all the ones that were in focus were somewhat bland. So I decided to mess around with post-processing. I think this picture has the most post-processing I’ve done on an image, but I really like the effect. I raised the contrast a bunch, but let the “auto correct” button do most of the work. I like how vibrant the pinks in the picture and it almost looks like there’s vignetting (not something I did, but happened as a result of the other post-processing I did).

Today, I took a picture of a turtle. Not a real turtle, it’s a magnet that hangs out on my fridge. This was actually really difficult to photograph because of the black on the fridge, even with the ISO set to 1600. This is one of the less blurry pictures.

I have this painting in my bathroom. I painted it myself. I had store bought art in its place for a while, but that was just ok. I like painting because of the texture you get from them. Not only can you look at the image created by the paint, but the paint itself can add something to look at (over a screen print or something like that). I tried to get a picture of the texture, and it only kind of worked. I feel like you can see the texture of the canvas, but not the paint.

Today, I was lazy. I forgot my DSLR, so I took a picture with my phone. I was heading to Cafe Campagne for a Dine Around Seattle meal. I took a picture with my phone. What I found interesting though, was how much crisper the image came out after I raised the contrast when I was doing some post processing.

Sunday was another frisbee day. I had my telephoto lens and raised the ISO a little so I could get really fast shutter speeds. I wanted to get pictures were action was frozen. That’s something I’ve been wanting to work on. Since it’s getting lighter outside, and the frisbee games are during the day, I’m getting that opportunity.

I’ve been looking for a game to play and I hear that Mass Effect is a good game. I ordered it online and picked it up from the front desk at my apartment.

I was also messing with Wilk’s camera. The EXIF data will show I was using a Sony and not my Nikon. I find the UI on his camera confusing, but I was determined to figure out how to change the settings. It took some time, but I figured it out. The lens was 1.8fstop, 50mm with auto-focus. I figured out how to move the focal point to a different area of the field of view, instead of having to focus on the center and then move the camera. I raised the ISO slightly to get a faster shutter speed. I left the metering mode in multi-segment.

I know I’ve already taken a picture of these flowers, but today they had raindrops on them! I really like pictures with the focus on water droplets to get reflections of the environment. However, I never seem to have my camera when the environment is right. Today, the flowers outside my apartment were covered in droplets, I just needed to pick the right angle.

I used my kit lens here. I raised the ISO to 400 so I could get speed up the shutter a bit.

Last night, at around 11:30 I noticed how calm the bay was. The lights reflecting off the water looked awesome. But I had already taken a picture for 3/21, so I decided to wait until after midnight. Apparently, that was too much time. I don’t know if it was wind, or boats were passing, causing the changes in the water, but the beautiful reflections had been minimized to this.

I took a bunch a pictures anyway. I used my tripod for it, but it is just proving to me a again that I want a remote for the shutter release because a lot of the pictures turned out blurry.

I got home from work today and it was still light outside! I grabbed my camera for my walk with Wrigley and saw this little flowers by one of the buildings on the walk.

I used my telephoto lens again.

This is just another picture of the flowers outside of my apartment building. I thought they were pretty.

I took this with my telephoto again. But it wasn’t as ridiculously windy today, so I was able to zoom in to 200mm and keep the ISO at 400. With this, I was able to get a nice in focus flower with a decent depth of field. I think the most interesting part is that even though this image looks close up, I’m actually about 3 to 4 feet away from the bush.
