Lol, I’m basically making my way through the trinkets and such on my shelves. Today, it’s an origami frog. Nothing really special here. Took a few different pictures to get the focus I wanted. No post-processing done.

For dinner last night, we made lasagna. After taking it out of the oven, it just looked so delicious. I had to take a picture.

I almost forgot to take a picture today. I decided to take a picture of my watch.

I got to say, I’m really starting to like the noise reduction in Lightroom. I take a lot of pictures late, so it’s dark. And that almost always means I have the ISO set to 1600. The noise reduction has been saving lots of pictures I’ve taken lately.

This is the hallway my apartment is in. No, that is not my door at the end of the hall. I thought this was interesting because of the almost stark feel apartment hallways have.

I got this from Japan a few years ago. The plate is only like an inch and a half tall.

I bought these flowers on Saturday. My apartment smells amazing right now because of the lilies. I liked this picture because of the detail of the pollen. The other thing I liked was that this picture is getting closer to being inline with color theory. There’s the blue tint in the background against the yellow/orange light on the flower. Then the green filament vs the reddish-orange anther.

After walking 5 miles yesterday and then a 2.5 hour long frisbee game today I was exhausted. I just took a picture. Today it was my music stand with some music on it. I didn’t even spend time setting up the scene, nor did I do any post-processing. I may have well taken a picture with the lens cap on.

I wanted to spend this gorgeous day outside. I decided to take a trip to Discovery Park in the Magnolia area. I made my way down to the south beach area. But I took a few of pictures that I liked so I’m going to post a couple more.

Further down the trail on the beach is this old lighthouse. This is the first picture I’ve ever tried spot removal on. But there was this person in the picture and I wanted to see if I get him out of it. I think it turned out pretty well.

Finally, near the parking lot, there was this field of flowers. I placed my camera inches from the ground to get this shot.

I walked around with my DSLR today when I walked Wrigley, but I kept my phone on me as well. I ended up taking more pictures with my phone in order to get a photo for the Gizmodo Shooting Challenge.

I liked this picture, but it was slightly blurry and the color was a little dull. The cellphone challenge has a rule that you shouldn’t use photo editing software on a computer, but anything you do on the phone is fine so I went looking for photo editing apps for my phone. I found a good app that let me alter the normal settings (contrast, brightness, etc) and I could even sharpen it a bit. The only thing I don’t like is that it resizes the image. The original was 5MP and the final image was only over 1MP! 😮

I found another app that would turn the image to grayscale and let you bring only part of it back to color. Then I adjusted the contrast in the first app. Here are the results:

So, at least I have some candidates for this week’s Shooting Challenge now.

UPDATE (4/26/11 2:39PM) – Results of the challenge. Overall results. My image.

There was sunlight coming through the glass ceiling in Studio A. I thought it was funny how the shadows of the words wrote “you are the troller” so I took a picture.

However, I took this picture with my phone. In order to try to find a good picture to turn into this week’s Gizmodo Shooting Challenge, I’m going to try to take pictures mostly with my phone this week. We’ll see how long that lasts…
