There were fire trucks and ambulances outside of the Seastar building! I saw that people had evacuated the building but nothing else. I took a few pictures, but noticed how interesting the bokeh was as the camera was trying to focus. I decided to turn off auto-foucs and manually stay out of focus for the picture. And I like it. :) I think this image turned out more interesting than had the image been in focus.

I’ve seen this done in other pictures, but I haven’t ever tried to do this myself. What I did was cut out a star from a piece of paper and then I held it up to the lens. I had to go into manual foucs to get the extreme bokeh effect.

When walking Wrigley this morning I noticed these little bulb-like flowers outside of my apartment. I thought the were really neat, so I grabbed my camera before heading to work and tried to take a picture of it. I was using my kit lens and messed with the aperture a bit. I ended up liking the one with a higher fstop so the bokeh wasn’t as ridiculous.

Note: To give you a sense of scale, these bulbs are probably smaller than 1cm each.
