Tonight for dinner, I decided to make enchiladas. They were good, not as good as I think they can be. So I will have to explore different recipes. Oh, and I decided to make a margarita to go with it. 😛

I’ve been wanting to do a slider tasting for a while. So over the weekend I invited some friends over and had different options for people. I had 5 different sliders as options, a classic slider, an asian-style slider, one called the Miami slider, one taco-flavored slider, and finally one called the French Tarragon slider.

The French Tarragon was, by far, the best received. It features a rosemary bun (which is actually a dinner roll that I cut in half to make a bun, a mayo with tarragon, and a burger with salt, pepper, and shallots, and finally fresh mixed greens from my garden!

When I was in Italy (which I still need to make posts for…) I learned to cook! In fact, it was a cooking vacation. I learned how to make allllll sorts of delicious food common to the Amalfi Coast. One dish that I learned to love while I was there was ravioli. At first, I thought it was boring, there was just some pasta, some cheese, and some sauce. But then we made some in a cooking class and I learned what makes it so amazing. The dishes are so simple and in that simplicity you can get amazing, fresh flavors. I learned to appreciate that. Quickly, ravioli became my favorite dish.

Since coming back, I’ve been meaning to make some. So here it is. I used the recipe I learned while in Italy and it was just as amazing as I remember. It took forever, there were a bunch of steps involved in making the pasta from scratch, but spending those hours allowed me to make 27 rather large ravioli. And at that size, it turned out to be 5 meals (which was pretty nice to not have to worry about what I was going to eat for dinner for a few days). To get some protein in there, I grilled my favorite, simple, cumin rubbed grilled chicken, and also grilled some asparagus. And then to round it out, I had a nice cool glass of wine. :)

It’s New Years Eve! A bunch of us were hanging out at Alvin and Mark’s place. I had forgotten my DSLR , so my phone had to suffice. I wanted to get a picture right before midnight as everyone was gathering around with their champagne. But as it was getting closer to midnight, people moved away from the living room towards the kitchen, out of view of the picture I wanted to take. There wasn’t really much time to setup a shot consider it was 11:59 and I needed a picture, so this is what I got. There are far fewer people in the shot than I was hoping to get, but oh well.

Tonight, Kerry and I went to see Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the 5th Avenue Theatre. I didn’t bring my DSLR, because I didn’t know if they would let me into the theater with a camera like that. So all I had was my phone.

I didn’t like this picture at first. But then I lowered the midtones, changed the hue and saturation and I like this a lot better. It has an old-timey kind of feel, since I made the lights more yellow.

The Xbox 2011 update shipped! Numerous tables were being prepped for the toast we had at work in celebration.

I forgot my DSLR today, so I only had my phone for this picture.

Today, I was finally feeling better, after being sick for days. I had been sleeping so much after the past few days that I all of sudden had tons of energy. So I decided to try a sushi place, Sushiya, near my apartment. This is a picture of the shumai (shrimp dumpling things) that I had as an appetizer.

I forgot my DSLR so I used my phone. I think the picture would have been really good if I had my DSLR because I think the composition of the chopsticks and the way the dumplings are all lined up look good.

It was our last frisbee game of the fall regular season. The sky was very pretty all evening, as the sun was setting. Near the end of the game, the sky looked more purple than it did, blue, so I tried to get a picture of it. But all I had was my phone, and my phone does not do the scene justice, at all… I’m really disappointed in this picture. I wish I had brought my DSLR…

For lunch today, I was in the city. Cody and I were picking up our glass from the glassblowing studio. I had never been to Lunchbox Laboratory, so we went over there. This was the oreo shake I had. It was delicious, but waaaaay overpriced. Thought it was neat to get my shake in a beaker.

I got this groupon about 10 months ago for glassblowing. I finally found an opportunity to take the class and a friend to take it with. So Cody and I went to the glassblowing studio in Belltown.

I only had my phone on me at the time, so I used it to take a picture of Cody as he was using tools to create a paperweight.
